19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hardcourt

A revitalized Medvedev secured his maiden title for over two years with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a difficult period, managing just one match at the big events and experiencing a setback at the US Open.

The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his service game in specific - led to him falling of the elite rankings and finally splitting with long-term coach his previous coach.

Now training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set win over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's initial championship after the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt after March of 2023.

Success also indicates the Russian has secured twenty-one titles at twenty-one different tournaments.

"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my two daughters together, so to get a trophy is really nice," commented tennis professional the champion.

"This title is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I got when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, including in Halle previously this season.

Medvedev's counter-punching strategy and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted commentators to question if his capacity to perform at the elite level was concluded.

But the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and compete aggressively, reinforced by an better serve.

He fought back from a break down in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, securing four of the concluding five games to go ahead.

The pair exchanged service breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to force a third set.

The opponent saved 4 early-game break points in a close final set before the Russian broke to 15 to serve for the match.

Fittingly, the winner clinched the win with a shot at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
